Blackwood’s Edinburgh Magazine, Volume 54, No. 338 (December 1843) is an issue of the famous Tory literary monthly, long one of the most influential periodicals in Britain. Known familiarly as ‘Maga,’ it published fiction, poetry, political commentary, and criticism, and counted many leading writers of the nineteenth century among its contributors.
