Maud Howe Elliott was an American author, artist, and biographer — daughter of Julia Ward Howe, author of The Battle Hymn of the Republic — who wrote novels, travel books, and memoirs over a long career. The San Rosario Ranch is a California-set romance published in the late nineteenth century, typical of the local-color fiction that brought the landscapes and cultures of the American West to Eastern readers.
Elliott later won the Pulitzer Prize for biography. Her fiction represents an interesting facet of her career. Download this free public-domain EPUB at Better Gutenberg.
