The Mikirs is Edward Stack’s ethnographic monograph on the Mikir (Karbi) people of northeastern India, edited and completed by Charles Lyall. The study documents their language, social organization, religion, folklore, and customs, drawing on official inquiry and collected texts.

As one of the early systematic accounts of a hill people of Assam, the book preserves valuable material on a community then little known to outside scholarship. It includes folktales and linguistic notes alongside descriptions of daily life and belief. Compiled in the colonial era, it should be read with awareness of its perspective, yet it remains an important source for the ethnography and folklore of northeastern India and the comparative study of its tribal cultures.
