One of Shakespeare’s so-called ‘problem plays’, All’s Well That Ends Well follows Helena, a physician’s daughter, who cures the King of France and claims as her reward the hand of the unwilling Count Bertram. The comedy is discomfiting precisely because Bertram is so difficult to like, and the happy ending so hard-won as to feel precarious.

Written around 1604–1605, the play is one of Shakespeare’s least performed but most psychologically interesting. This free EPUB is cleanly formatted for any e-reader.
