My Dream
I thought I’d forgotten you, dearie,
But you returned in my golden dream.
The distant years faded you in person,
But again you’re fresh in memory it seems.
Just like the rose wants morning dew,
That’s how my dream makes me want you.
Cruel fate and time has drifted us apart,
I smile on the world, but no one knows my heart.
Oh! let me dream both night and day,
That I may dream my sorrows away
Into a land of passing breeze
To give my heart one moment’s ease.
