Following his English Fairy Tales, Jacobs chose the best of the Irish, Scottish Gaelic and Welsh stories already gathered by earlier collectors. Here are Connla and the Fairy Maiden, Guleesh, The Horned Women, Conall Yellowclaw, The Shepherd of Myddvai, The Sprightly Tailor, the tragic Deirdre and King O’Toole and his Goose, with pictures by John D. Batten.
Retold for young readers but faithful to its sources, it is a fine introduction to Celtic storytelling. Download the free EPUB.
