At a country house called Summersoft, the young novelist Paul Overt meets Henry St. George, the famous writer he reveres, and the charming Marian Fancourt. St. George confesses that marriage and success have spoiled his art and urges Overt to sacrifice home and love to his work, advice whose sincerity James leaves the reader to weigh.
One of James’s finest tales about the artist’s life, wry and searching. Download the free EPUB.
