The title poem tells of a Grecian lad sailing home with figs and wine from Sicily who dares to love the goddess Athena, in rich stanzas that scandalised some early readers. Around it are shorter lyrics: Requiescat, for Wilde’s young sister, San Miniato, Rome Unvisited, Louis Napoleon, Endymion and the long meditation Humanitad.
