Drawing on Lord Charnwood’s biography, Drinkwater stages Lincoln’s life from his nomination through the Civil War, with Mrs. Lincoln, the Cabinet and the soldiers, ending at Ford’s Theatre. He freely telescopes history, he warns, to shape a drama rather than a chronicle.
A play that was a hit on both sides of the Atlantic after the Great War, with an introduction by Arnold Bennett. Download the free EPUB.
