Leandro loves the beautiful wife of Bartolus, a covetous lawyer, and enlists the jovial curate Lopez and his sexton Diego in a plot to get near her. Alongside runs a darker plot in which the uxorious Don Henrique disowns his brother and tries to legitimize his son by a former betrothed. Printed in the Beaumont and Fletcher folio, the play is now credited to Fletcher and Philip Massinger.
