An old officer tells his nephews about soldiers and sailors: recruiting sergeants and Jack-tars, generals and admirals, cavalry, infantry, engineers, artillery and marines, and whether the redcoat or the bluejacket is braver. Anecdotes of battles, stratagems and daily service mix with moral lessons, illustrated by more than fifty John Gilbert engravings.
A charming early Victorian book of military and naval lore for young readers. Download the free EPUB.
