A veiled young woman steps from a plain carriage in Paris to consult a fortune-teller about her future. She is the Marquise de Ganges, famed for her beauty, and Dumas reconstructs from the record how a second marriage in the south of France led to jealousy, greed and a savage attack by her husband’s two brothers.
One of the Celebrated Crimes, a true story of the seventeenth century told with Dumas’s narrative flair. Download the free EPUB.
