Grinnell, who spent years among the Cheyenne and Blackfeet, tells the story of a boy growing up on the Great Plains before the white settlers came. In his own voice the narrator recalls an attack on his family’s camp, lessons from the prairie, hunting from a buffalo horse, the medicine circle, raids among enemy lodges and the trials that make him a man.
A respectful, knowledgeable portrait of Plains life by one of its leading early students. Download the free EPUB.
