When war with the Boers breaks out in 1899, a young Englishman from the Transvaal gathers a band of fellow refugees and fights with them through the Natal campaign. The battles of Dundee and Elandslaagte, the siege of Ladysmith and General Buller’s long struggle to relieve it are drawn from contemporary accounts.
Classic Henty, written while the war was still news; its imperial outlook is that of 1901. Download the free EPUB.
