The British Medical Association had dozens of popular proprietary medicines analysed and printed the results beside the makers’ claims. Cold cures, cough mixtures, consumption cures, headache powders, blood purifiers, kidney pills and slimming nostrums are taken in turn, with their ingredients and estimated cost exposed against prices charged to the public.
A landmark exposé of the patent-medicine trade, as sharp and revealing about advertising now as it was in 1909. Download the free EPUB.
