In September 1914 Machen published a short story in which the archers of Agincourt rise to defend British soldiers retreating from Mons. To his astonishment, readers took it as fact. This little book collects The Bowmen and three similar war legends, with Machen’s introduction on how his fiction became a rumour of real angels.
A fascinating case of fiction turning into folklore, by a master of weird fiction. Download the free EPUB.
