Toby-Dog and Kiki-the-Demure, a dog and a cat who share a house with a writer and the woman they call simply ‘She’, talk over the small dramas of their days: a train journey, a late dinner, an illness, the first fire of autumn, a storm. Each piece is a short scene set out like a play, with the humans speaking only at the edges.
Early Colette in Maire Kelly’s English translation, sharp and affectionate, for anyone who has wondered what the pets make of it all. Download the free EPUB.
