In May 1893 Tyrrell joined his brother Joseph Burr Tyrrell of the Geological Survey of Canada on an expedition into the Barren Lands, more than two hundred thousand square miles of unmapped country north of the 59th parallel. They descended the Athabasca, ran rapids, crossed great frozen lakes and travelled the Telzoa, meeting caribou herds and Inuit hunters on the way to Hudson Bay.
A hard-won tale of northern exploration, with close observation of the land and its peoples. Download the free EPUB.
