Church follows his retelling of Homer with the Aeneid, adding nothing but leaving much out. The wooden horse and the sack of Troy, Aeneas carrying his father from the flames, the Harpies and the Cyclops, the shipwreck, Dido’s Carthage and the descent past Charon into the land of shadows all unfold in simple, dignified prose.
A long-trusted introduction to Virgil for young readers and for adults who want the story without the Latin. Download the free EPUB.
