Tired of boarding, the narrator and his wife Euphemia rent a stranded canal boat and make it their home. They take in a boarder, hire Pomona, an orphan girl whose taste for lurid novels colours everything she does, and cope with a burglar, a dog and floods as the household grows ever more eccentric.
A gently absurd comedy of early married life, once enormously popular and still charming. Download the free EPUB.
