Kai Lung, a wandering storyteller of an imaginary old China, is seized by the cruel Mandarin Shan Tien and condemned on false charges. Each day, with the help of the lovely Hwa-mei, he delays his fate by telling the mandarin another tale, every one wrapped in exquisitely courteous, absurdly ornate prose, with an introduction by Hilaire Belloc.
A cult comic fantasy whose mock-Chinese style is a parody of manners rather than of a people. Download the free EPUB.
