Thackeray’s mock “Novels by Eminent Hands” skewer the fashions of the 1840s: “George de Barnwell” mocks Bulwer-Lytton’s lofty criminals, “Codlingsby” sends up Disraeli, “Phil Fogarty” takes on Charles Lever’s Irish dragoons and “Barbazure” teases G. P. R. James. Further comic pieces on crinolines, footmen and America fill out the volume.
A treat for anyone who knows the Victorian novel and enjoys seeing it lampooned by an expert. Download the free EPUB.
