A stock clerk agrees to take the road for a single trip while the firm’s travelling man is away on his wedding tour, and immediately wishes he had refused. His account of hotels, trains, rival drummers, dealers and orders won and lost is a comic, inside view of the commercial traveller’s life in the 1880s hardware trade.
A genial period comedy for anyone who has ever had to make a sale. Download the free EPUB.
