Soldier Boy, Buffalo Bill’s horse, tells part of the story himself; letters and talk among soldiers and horses tell the rest. Cathy, a little orphan girl raised in France, comes to her uncle General Alison at a Western cavalry post, invents her own bugle call, drills the children and wins every heart, before the tale moves to Spain and its bullrings.
A late, little-known Twain novella written to protest cruelty to animals, warm and then sad. Download the free EPUB.
