Hildegarde Graham, the languid, fashionable only daughter of a wealthy family, is sent to spend a summer with her old nurse on a farm while her parents travel. Appalled at first by the plain rooms and early hours, she slowly discovers chores, country walks and friendship, especially with Pink Chirk, a crippled girl she had never heard of.
The first of Richards’s Hildegarde stories, gentle and funny, for girls who like transformation tales. Download the free EPUB.
