Emily Byrd Starr loses her father in the lonely house in the hollow and is passed, by the drawing of lots, to the proud Murray aunts at New Moon farm. Under strict Aunt Elizabeth and gentle Aunt Laura she finds friends in wild Ilse Burnley, hired boy Perry Miller and artistic Teddy Kent, and fills her secret notebooks with stories and poems.
The first of a trilogy, and a vivid portrait of a young writer’s growing pains. Download the free EPUB.
