In a land where it is always evening, the storyteller finds an inn where figures from the old wonder tales sit together by the fire and take turns telling stories. Each is a tale of luck, cleverness or folly: a magic stool of fortune, the talisman of Solomon, a fiddler and Ill-Luck, empty bottles, the good of a few words, a woman’s wit and the fruit of happiness.
