Andy Burke, the son of a poor Irish widow, crosses the arrogant Godfrey Preston, son of the local colonel, and has to make his own way. A job with two old maids, a midnight alarm, a smooth-talking counterfeiter and a question of inheritance all lie between Andy and a better life.
A typical Alger tale of hard work and honesty, with a sympathetic Irish-American hero. Download the free EPUB.
