Bevis and his friend Mark live on an English farm beside a lake they call the New Sea, and they turn the whole countryside into a stage for their imaginations. They build a raft and sail it, play at savages and explorers, stage battles, make a gun, camp on an island, swim and fish, all through Jefferies’s intensely observed seasons.
One of the great English books about boyhood and nature, admired by generations of readers. Download the free EPUB.
