On a Middle Georgia plantation lives Little Crotchet, a boy who has lost the use of his legs but has plans of his own, and who secretly befriends Aaron, a runaway slave hiding in the woods who understands the speech of animals. With lantern signals and woodland allies the two keep faith with each other through the woods and fields of the plantation.
Harris’s sequel to The Story of Aaron, tender toward its characters but set in a slavery-era world painted with the attitudes of 1897. Download the free EPUB.
