Henley gathered and revised his work from A Book of Verses and London Voluntaries for this collected volume. It opens with In Hospital, a sequence of sonnets and free verse written in the Edinburgh Infirmary, where nurses, surgeons and fellow patients pass under his eye, and moves on through lyrics, ballades and the rolling city odes.
A tough, unsentimental Victorian voice that fans of Invictus should hear at full length. Download the free EPUB.
