The title poem finds a crumbling image of Pan beside a spring in Arcady, crowned by the earth with daffodils long after men have forgotten him. Other pieces wander through vagrant songs, King Laurin’s rose garden, a mysterious forest, an old grey queen and a quest, with roses that say they were born of kisses.
