The first volume of Noyes’s 1913 collected edition gathers the poems of his early books, beginning with The Loom of Years. Musical, highly rhythmic lyrics sit beside ballads, a triolet, the Japanese fantasies of The Flower of Old Japan, pieces on art and mysticism, and the greenwood ballads of Robin Hood’s Sherwood.
