William F. Cody recalls a frontier boyhood in Kansas, riding for the Pony Express, hunting buffalo to feed railroad crews, scouting for the army on the plains, and his friendship with Wild Bill Hickok. He goes on to the stage and the Wild West show that took the frontier to Europe. His view of the Indian wars is very much that of its time.
