First published in 1831, this history of the trans-Allegheny frontier records the settlement of western Virginia and the Ohio valley and the decades of raids, sieges and reprisals between settlers and Native nations up to the 1790s. This edition, prepared by Reuben Gold Thwaites, adds Lyman Draper’s memoir of the author and extensive notes.
