Langford lived through the gold rushes of the northern Rockies and here tells how lawless camps such as Lewiston, Florence, Bannack and Virginia City dealt with robbery and murder. At the centre stands Henry Plummer, the sheriff secretly leading a gang of road agents, and the citizens’ vigilance committees that hunted them down.
A classic first-hand chronicle of frontier justice by the man later known as the first superintendent of Yellowstone. Download the free EPUB.
