Ernest Renan, who scandalised France with his Life of Jesus, looks back on the Breton seaside of his childhood and its legends, the old flax-crusher of Tréguier, and the seminaries of Saint-Nicolas and Saint-Sulpice where he trained for the priesthood before losing his faith. The book includes his celebrated Prayer on the Acropolis.
One of the great French autobiographies, gentle, ironic and beautifully written. Download the free EPUB.
