Brock is enjoying a peaceful breakfast at the Hôtel Chatham in Paris when his friends the Medcrofts draw him into a family scheme. To satisfy relations and the guardians of a baby heir, he agrees to play a role in their household, and the deception multiplies as sisters-in-law, distant cousins and would-be suitors arrive.
