Mudfog is a riverside town of tar, coal and drunken bargemen, and its mayor Nicholas Tulrumble lets office go to his head. Dickens follows with reports of the Mudfog Association for the Advancement of Everything, a lampoon of learned societies, and sketches on the pantomime of life, a society lion and a gentleman connected with the press.
Early Dickens in high spirits, with some period jokes that have aged badly, for readers who love his comic voice. Download the free EPUB.
