Uncle Remus tells a new generation, the son of the little boy from the earlier books, more animal tales of the Black South: why Mr. Cricket has elbows on his legs, how Wiley Wolf rode in the bag, Brother Rabbit’s laughing-place, and when Brother Rabbit was king. The tales are drawn from African American folklore, framed by a nostalgic white view of plantation life and told in heavy dialect.
A major record of Southern Black folktales, read today with full awareness of its racial framing. Download the free EPUB.
