Judith Bliss, a retired actress, her novelist husband David and their grown children Sorel and Simon have each invited a guest to their untidy house at Cookham for the weekend without telling the others. Over a Saturday and Sunday in June the self-absorbed family flirt, quarrel, play parlour games and stage scenes from Judith’s old melodramas, leaving the bewildered visitors to fend for themselves.
One of Coward’s sharpest comedies of manners, a favourite of revival stages since 1925. Download the free EPUB.
