Dorothy and Toto set out to show a shabby tramp the road to Butterfield and find instead a road that leads nowhere they know. With the Shaggy Man, the lost boy Button-Bright and Polychrome, the Rainbow’s Daughter, they pass through Foxville and Dunkiton, escape the soup-kettle of the Scoodlers and cross the Deadly Desert to Ozma’s birthday celebration.
