Jessie Lemont’s 1918 selection draws on the First Poems, The Book of Pictures, the New Poems and The Book of Hours, and includes The Panther, Archaic Torso of Apollo, Autumnal Day and The Spanish Dancer. It is dedicated to the memory of Auguste Rodin, through whom the translator came to know the poet.
An early English window on the German poet, short enough to read in a sitting. Download the free EPUB.
