Professor Arthur Maxon, convinced he can create human life from chemicals, takes his daughter Virginia to a remote island off Borneo to carry on his experiments. Most of his vat-grown creatures are misshapen brutes, but Number 13 is handsome and gentle, and when pirates, warriors and a scheming assistant close in, he must discover whether he has a soul.
A 1913 pulp variation on Frankenstein, with Burroughs’s usual blend of jungle action and romance. Download the free EPUB.
