After the American Civil War the artillerists of Baltimore’s Gun Club find themselves bored, until their president Barbicane proposes casting a cannon large enough to send a shell to the Moon. Rival Captain Nicholl, the irrepressible Frenchman Michel Ardan, a Florida foundry and Cambridge astronomers all play their parts. This edition includes the voyage itself and the journey round the Moon.
