The last of Shakespeare’s history plays, King Henry VIII (also known as All Is True) is now generally believed to have been co-written with John Fletcher. A pageant-like series of falls from greatness — Cardinal Wolsey, Queen Katherine, the Duke of Buckingham — it ends with the christening of the infant Elizabeth, presented as the dawn of a golden age.
A spectacular rather than a deeply political play, it was the production in which the Globe Theatre burned down in 1613. This free EPUB is cleanly formatted for any device.
