Fleeing a night of trouble at the Venice beach resort near Los Angeles, a young man takes a job as a forest-fire lookout high in the California mountains, watching the woods alone in his tower. There he finds a new life, a woman worth knowing and enemies who have followed him, until a forest fire tests everyone.
A 1917 western from one of the genre’s most popular women writers, with a strong feel for the mountain forests. Download the free EPUB.
