Rhoda, a frail New Yorker visiting a ranch in the Pecos valley, meets Kut-le, a college-educated Apache who decides to win her by carrying her off into the desert. The novel stages its romance as a clash of Indian and white ways, and its racial assumptions and abduction plot are very much those of 1913.
A desert romance of its time, worth reading for its landscapes and its revealing attitudes. Download the free EPUB.
