Geoffrey Tempest is a struggling London author on the edge of starvation when news arrives that he has inherited five million pounds. Into his life steps Prince Lucio Rimânez, a handsome and fascinating aristocrat who guides him through society, publishing and a glittering marriage, while the novelist Mavis Clare offers a very different idea of what a writer’s life might be worth.
