Colonel Thomas Newcome returns from India, a simple and honourable soldier, to a family of rich London bankers who are ashamed of him. His son Clive wants to be a painter and loves his cousin Ethel, but Ethel’s grandmother and brother mean to sell her to the highest title. Arthur Pendennis tells the story.
One of Thackeray’s richest novels, with a hero many readers count among the most moving in Victorian fiction. Download the free EPUB.
